  • Why golf is not a sport for those who're poor?

I've heard from most people that golf is for those who are rich. I've never tried golf before, but I guess golf is not for the poor mainly because the field or court renting is expensive?

Yup, you're right. Golf needs a very large area of court, and that's why renting the court is only for the rich.

and the equipment is not cheap as well, and if you want to play it nicely you might need to buy several golf sticks with different functionalities.

Golf is perhaps the most expensive sport to play, if I am not wrong. I have never been able to play it although I follow it on TV. It is not affordable for the poor to play Golf.

Yes no doubt that Golf requires lots of resources, both physical and financial to play. It is not easy to indulge in a sport like Golf if you are not very well off.

Simply because the poor cannot afford the resources needed to play Golf. It is truly a game for the rich only. and that we do need to admit.

Does anyone here find Golf to be interesting or captivating? Yes it is a rich man's game but does it have that spark to attract the people who are not that well off? I think it remains a rich man's game for people don't really find the urge to go for the game.

Everyone should play golf, not just the rich. The opinion that this is just a sport for the rich hampers its widespread. But golfers, it is an undeniable fact, staying for hours on the golf course, and during the game and walk up to 12 kilometers.

Okay, so I want to play Golf and I am just able to make my both ends meet. How should I play it and where? How come a not so rich person play Gold even if he is the best and he loves the sport.

There are always avenues if you want to succeed at something in life. Trying hard and doing what is necessary can help you get there. People who really want to excel in golf would not care about the avenues at hand. They will make it happen.

I wouldn't completely say that golf is expensive there are always resources and places that will sell golf clubs and balls for cheaper than you might expect in addition a lot of people usually sell them to donation places and they are given a very low bargain price so golf can be affordable to play if you go to the right places to find the necessary equipment you need you can become a golfer in no time

Apart from not being cheap. The logistics of getting in isn't as simple as say Football, Athletics, B-Ball etc. Those sports can be played in the open and gears are easily accessible. Golf now; You need diff clubs, a golf course and balls (they get lost quite easily) and it will run you ragged. Advice is to align to someone who is in it and show interest and they will get you in. Worked for me.

It is because you need money to buy equipment or rent if you like to. Also to pay rent for the golf course and there could be membership fees as well.

Playing golf can really be costly. As mentioned, you will need to practice on big space or golf course and will need expensive equipment.
